BODIES FOUND IN HOUSE!

Site of Homicide Is Place Of Unsolved Earlier Crime

Among the three bodies found Monday in a northeast Oklahoma City house was a marijuana dispensary shop owner and a 15-year-old girl.

At least one of the three-homicide victims died of multiple gunshot wounds, but the causes of death of a man and the teenage girl have yet to be released.

Elijah Malachi Mothershed, 44, Carnesha Patrice Powell, 35, and Roshawna Stevens, 15, were found dead at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday in a house at 1129 N. Standish Ave.

Neighbors said the three lived in the house FOR about six months.

The house where the bodies were found is the site of another, still unsolved homicide that occurred about a year ago.

Miss Powell suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner's office reported on Tuesday.

The causes of death for Mr. Mothershed and Roshawna Stevens had not been determined Tuesday, a spokeswoman for the office said.

Miss Powell was Roshawna Stevens' mother and Mr. Mothershed's girlfriend, according to Capt. Bo Mathews, a spokesman for the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Mr. Mothershed had recently been involved in opening a medical marijuana dispensary, Cannabis Aid, 1612 NE 23rd St.

On Monday afternoon, a sign on the door of the marijuana dispensary read: "Unfortunately, we will be closed Monday and Tuesday."

In recent years, Mr. Mothershed also had been involved with a group, called MAN 101, which held workshops at Ralph Ellison Library designed to help troubled young men in northeast Oklahoma City.

State Rep. Jason Lowe (Dem., Oklahoma City), a criminal lawyer, said Mr. Mothershed made contributions in the northeast quadrant.

“He was a great person who believed in rehabilitation and not incarceration for non-violent offenders and for those deserving a second chance,” the criminal lawyer said. Persons with information about the homicides may call (405)297-1200.
