‘Invests Her Time’
Carlson Named High
School Principal of Year
Aspasia Carlson has been named Oklahoma High School Principal of the Year.
Mrs. Carlson is principal of John Marshall High School.
The 2018 honor was awarded by the Oklahoma Association of secondary School Principals.
“Aspasia Carlson invests her time in kids and takes an active role in their development as people and not just as students or numbers,” said Dr. Vickie Williams, director of the association.
“She is supportive of life experiences and using them as a platform to connect the dots as to the importance of learning, dealing with adversity and the value of being curious.”
Dr. Williams also referred to the principal as “a transformational leader who has made a difference for kids at John Marshall High.”
Mrs. Carlson is serving her seventh year as principal of Marshall High.
“During that time,” Dr. Williams commented, “she has successfully changed the community’s perception” of the school.
Dr. Williams said Mrs. Carlson has employed “positive events” at the “diverse urban school” to improve Marshall High.
Her efforts have paid off, Dr. Williams said.
