WATCH: Illinois In Focus Daily | Monday May 5th, 2025

(The Center Square) – In today’s edition of Illinois in Focus Daily, The Center Square Associate Editor Greg Bishop discusses a new lawsuit the U.S. Department of Justice filed against Illinois over the state’s law the DOJ says punishes employers and obscures federal employment verification practices to weed out non-citizens that are ineligible to work in the United States.

Bishop also reviews some of the latest status updates in the cases challenging Illinois gun laws. In one case in the federal appeals court, the state is trying to defend the law prohibiting carrying concealed firearms on mass transit. In a separate appeals court case, the state is scheduled to file its defense of the gun and magazine ban Wednesday.
