It takes a nation! Superstar singer Ciara and her champion football player husband, Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson, join the list of celebrities and athletes contributing to people who may have been impacted by the COVID-19 virus. The couple has pledged to provide 1 million meals to people who have had their lives altered due to the coronavirus pandemic according to Pro Football Talk.
In a video posted to Wilson‘s Twitter account, he states, “This worldwide pandemic, coronavirus, is changing the world second by second, minute by minute. People are losing loved ones, the elderly and the young, people in between. Think about people losing jobs.”
“So, what we’ve decided to do is partner up with our local food bank in Seattle, Seattle Food Lifeline, and we’re going to donate a million meals.”

“We want to encourage everyone out there to join us in whatever way that you can, big or small,” Ciara also chimed in. “Everything makes a difference. Everything that we do together makes a difference and together we will conquer this tough time that we’re going through.”
The couple is teaming up with Feeding America to donate one million meals to families in the Seattle area as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread across the country and globe. The Feeding America nationwide network of food banks “secures and distributes 4.3 billion meals each year through food pantries and meal programs throughout the United States and leads the nation to engage in the fight against hunger.” The Wilsons are also encouraging others to make a donation to Feeding America as well.
Food Lifeline is a member of Feeding America, the country’s fourth-largest nonprofit organization, and the national leader in hunger relief. Food Lifeline leverages the resources of more than 200 food banks across the country, taking advantage of hunger-ending best practices, sharing relationships with national food brands, and sharing food surpluses from sister agencies throughout the country.
