Nearly 2,000 COVID-19 tests were recently given by the Oklahoma County Department of Health at the Classmen School of Advanced sciences at Northeast.
The 1,722 tests were given on April 30.
The base testing site for the health department is the State Fairgrounds.
The department said it has been given more than 1,550 tests per day, and gives them Mondays through Fridays.
“The need to host a testing site in northeast Oklahoma City was evident,” said Phil Maytubby, chief operating officer of the county health department.
“We’ve followed the data reports from other cities, where this virus is disproportionately impacting the African-American community.
“While we’re not seeing the same impacts here in Oklahoma City, we want to ensure we’re providing testing in an equitable manner that serves all residents of Oklahoma County.”
