The Juneteenth Music & Arts Festival 2026 will officially begin on Sunday, June 15, with a special worship celebration at Prospect Baptist Church.
Festival organizers invite the community to gather for “Church Live,” a morning service featuring Reverend Lee Cooper beginning at 10:00 a.m. The event serves as the opening celebration for the annual Juneteenth observance, bringing together faith, fellowship, and community spirit.
Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and has become a powerful celebration of freedom, culture, achievement, and unity. Organizers say beginning the festival with worship reflects the important role faith has played throughout Black history and the ongoing pursuit of freedom and equality.
“Church Live” offers residents an opportunity to come together in gratitude and celebration before the week’s music, arts, educational, and community events begin.
Families, community leaders, church members, and visitors from across the Oklahoma City metro area are encouraged to attend.
The service will take place at Prospect Baptist Church on Sunday, June 15, at 10:00 a.m.
