Urban League OKC wins award

The Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City, under the direction of Dr. Valerie Thompson, President and CEO, was the 2024 recipient of the National Urban League Excellence in Quality Award on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.  Dr Thompson is outstanding in leading her workforce development team to the highest quality, providing services to guide young adults in re-entry services while excelling in data management for the Young Adult Re-entry Program (YARP).  The US Department of Labor funds YARP.  The Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City’s workforce re-entry program team has demonstrated exceptional organization, leadership, and commitment to the movement!  During this year, the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City staff has maintained a professional attitude that has shined above all others – great job!

The Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City is one of 92 affiliates in markets across 36 states and the District of Columbia.  For approximately 80 years, the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City (ULOKC) has been the African American community’s premier social service agency and subject-matter expert, providing affordable housing, minority business support, workforce development, employment, and education services.   The Urban League programs focus on developing educated kids living in healthy communities whose caregivers have access to jobs and a roof over their heads.  For more information, visit www.urbanleagueok.org.
