Virginia State University has been chosen as the site for one of the 2024 presidential debates, marking the first time a historically Black college or university (HBCU) in the U.S. has received this distinction.

Set for October 1, 2024, the debate is slated to take place at the VSU Multipurpose Center and will serve as the second of three official presidential debates in the upcoming general election.

As per the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates, the series will commence with the first presidential debate on September 16 at Texas State University in San Marcos. The final debate is scheduled for October 9 at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
