Oklahoma City Community College to host community event featuring global human resources leader Johnny C. Taylor Jr.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) is hosting a community event, “Leading Through Change: A Conversation with Johnny C. Taylor Jr.,” on Friday, May 16, at 10 a.m. in the OCCC Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater.

Johnny C. Taylor Jr. is president and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). His career spans more than 20 years as a lawyer, human resources executive and CEO in both the not-for-profit and for-profit spaces. He has held senior and chief executive roles at IAC/InteractiveCorp, Viacom’s Paramount Pictures, Blockbuster Entertainment Group, the McGuireWoods law firm, and Compass Group USA. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

“Oklahoma City Community College is honored to host Johnny C. Taylor Jr. to our campus for what promises to be an informative and inspirational conversation,” said OCCC President Dr. Mautra Staley Jones. “We welcome the community to our campus for this special opportunity to hear from a global leader on the future of employment, culture and leadership.”

A sought-after voice on issues affecting work, workers and the workplace, Taylor frequently is asked to testify before Congress on critical workforce topics. He is the author of the national bestseller “RESET: A Leader’s Guide to Work in an Age of Upheaval.” Immediately upon its release in September 2021, the work was in the top three of The Wall Street Journal’s list of best-selling hardcover business books. He also writes a weekly “USA Today” column, “Ask HR.”

Taylor serves on the United Way Worldwide Board of Trustees and serves on the corporate boards of XPO Logistics, Flores & Associates, and Guild Education. He previously served on the White House American Workforce Policy Advisory Board.

On May 17, Taylor will deliver the keynote address at OCCC’s 10 a.m. commencement ceremony as part of the college’s daylong celebration of graduates.
