Supreme Court allows Trump administration to cancel millions in DEI grants

(The Center Square) – The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday ruled the Trump administration can cut $65 million awarded to schools for diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

The 5-4 decision reverses an injunction a Boston federal court placed on the administration’s plan to cancel the grants.

On his first day in office, Trump signed an executive order eliminating DEI initiatives within the federal government. That includes grants awarded to schools and others for DEI efforts.

Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the court’s three liberal justices in dissenting.
