(The Center Square) – Tennessee motorists are seeing a slight break at the gas pump, but prices are still 10 cents higher than a month ago, according to the latest numbers from AAA.
The average cost for a regular unleaded gallon of gasoline is $2.73, a penny less than last week and the same as a year ago.
The most expensive gas is in the Memphis, Jackson and Nashville areas, according to the website of the American Automobile Association. Chattanooga, Cleveland and Clarksville have the least expensive fuel.
“We’re still seeing some uncertainty in the oil market due to the recent winter weather and U.S. sanctions on Russian petroleum,” said AAA spokeswoman Megan Cooper. “This could place upward pressure on oil prices, but for now, the full effect on the market is unknown. Drivers can likely expect continued fluctuation at the pump this week.”
National gas prices are the same at an average of $3.06 a gallon.
Gas is the most expensive in Hawaii at $4.52. Oklahoma has the least expensive at $2.58 a gallon.
