Hollywood Live: Bronny James suffers cardiac arrest

LeBron “Bronny” James Jr., the son of NBA star LeBron James, suffered cardiac arrest while practicing in Los Angeles on Monday and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He has since been released from the intensive care unit but remains in the hospital.

A 911 call was made at around 9:26 a.m. on Monday from USC’s Galen Center, the venue where the team plays and practices. The 18-year-old hooper was unconscious when an ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital. But again, he is now stable and has been out of the ICU for more than 24 hours.

Bronny was a four-star recruit and chose USC over offers from Oregon and Ohio State. After this upcoming season, he is eligible for the NBA draft, and LeBron has often said that he would love to play in the NBA with his own son.

The good news, Bronny will have a close friend to lean on in this situation if he needs one. Shaquille O’Neal’s son, Shareef O’Neal, dealt with a heart issue of his own back in 2018 when he was a teenage ball player. Shareef required surgery to fix the abnormality in his heart.

Right now it’s very unclear if Bronny’s medical emergency is even remotely similar, but the two are still good pals and appear to be totally fine confiding with one another. In fact, they were recently spotted last week out together at a Hollywood party.

And of course, we did see Bronny with his family at the ESPY Awards. So, we are just sending up prayers for Bronny and the family. We know he’s getting the best medical care that is available, and I’m sure he’s going to be just fine.

Personal chef of the Obamas drowns in Martha’s Vineyard

Former President Barack Obama’s personal chef has drowned near the family home on Martha’s Vineyard. State police confirmed that a paddle border whose body was recovered from Edgartown Great Harbor on Monday was Tafari Campbell. The 45-year-old lived in Virginia.

Campbell was employed by the Obamas and was visiting Martha’s Vineyard at the time. Apparently, the Obama family was not present at the home at the time of the accident.

In a statement, the former president and his wife, Michelle, called Campbell “a beloved part of [their] family.” She said, “When we first met him, he was a talented sous chef at the White House — creative and passionate about food and its ability to bring people together. In the years that followed, we got to know him as a warm, fun, extraordinarily kind person who made all of our lives a little brighter.”

It’s really a tragic story. It turns out he was paddle boarding. He did not have a life jacket on when he was found. So we’re not sure exactly what happened, but people called the police when they saw a man go down in the water and not come up near the Obama’s estate.

So there will be a lot more on this story, but it’s just a very tragic situation for everybody involved. Our condolences go out to his wife and twin sons, and of course to the Obama family as well.
