I had the time of my life at Paris Fashion Week. I was a guest of Flying Solo, who has been doing runway shows for up and coming designers for the past 26 years in Paris. This year, they chose Pamela Maugile and her clothing brand Tunika as a designer to watch.
Pamela is being called the ‘Queen of Cotton,’ as her sustainable cotton goods come from her family-owned cotton farm in Tunica, Mississippi. The farm has been in the family for more than 150 years. I am pleased to say that the Tunika brand and Pamela got the biggest applause during her show, probably because you can actually wear the clothes.
You can go to @aurnonline to see some of my coverage from Paris Fashion Week, and we have a special YouTube interview coming up with Pamela later this week. You don’t want to miss any of that story.
Bruno Mars concert called off amidst Israel-Hamas conflict
This was truly the summer of live concerts coming back. Unfortunately, Bruno Mars’ sold-out concert planned in Tel Aviv for the weekend was canceled amid the deadly conflict between Israeli forces and Hamas militants. Concert promoters at Live Nation Israel announced that they had called off the event, which was set to take place at the celebrated Park HaYarkon near Tel Aviv.
All ticket buyers for the show have received an automatic refund to their credit cards with which they purchase the tickets. According to the translation of the Live Nation Israeli post in Hebrew, it said, “We stand with the residents of Israel, the IDF fighters, and the security forces in these difficult moments.” Boy, we did not see this one coming.
Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour surpasses previous record for highest grossing by a solo female artist
And speaking of tours, the New York Times is reporting that Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour has surpassed the previous record for highest grossing by a solo female artist, which was previously held by Madonna back in 2009. By the tour’s close, Beyoncé will have generated, are you ready for this, an estimated $4.5 billion for the American economy. About as much as the 2008 Olympics did for Beijing.
Well, I guess that makes Beyonce a true American treasure. Ha! No pun intended.
