Halloween Havoc: 15 Standout Hip Hop Horror Songs

It’s the Halloween season of goblins, ghouls, and everything that goes bump at night. It’s a time when folks walk in haunted houses for the thrill and see slasher/monster films to celebrate gore on screen. Yet, the most significant and overlooked aspect of the horror holiday is its musical soundtrack. So below, check out the Hip Hop songs (in no order) that deliver rhymes guaranteed to bring chills.

1. Bbymutha – R.I.P.

The bassline thump sounds dark. The video is red lighting with candlesticks. The song itself plays as an intro to a Resident Evil video game.

2. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince – A Nightmare on My Street

It’s a song about Freddy Krueger, nuff said.

3. Snoop Dogg – Murder was the Case

Snoop Dogg coined a phrase based on a song where he dies and is resurrected by the devil, whose voice on the track gives nightmares.

4. Kanye West ft. Rick Ross, Jay-Z, and Nicki Minaj

The monster in the song is Nicki Minaj, who murdered everyone on the record.

5. Doja Cat – Demons

The music video has Doja Cat crawling on ceilings dressed like a rejected devil genie who grants wishes that would raise your life insurance policy.

6. Scarface – I Seen a Man Die

Scarface is a GOAT storyteller who rhymes a tale of a spiritual crossroads of gangsters and ghosts.

7. DMX – Damien

DMX’s exchange with the devil’s son is lyrical brilliance and a valued lesson: “If something is too good to be true, it probably is.”

8. Outkast – Dracula’s Wedding

Outkast. Strictly for editorial purposes. No copyright Infringement intended

No one can guess why Andre 3000 would be at a vampire’s wedding, but one can bet he probably brought his flute.

9. Megan Thee Stallion and Rico Nasty – Scary

Both artists rap with authority over a hard thump goblin base beat.

10. Monela – Body Bag

Monela makes the line, “I will kill you, and let my cousin do a TikTok on your grave” feel like Jason Voorhees is her hypeman.

11. Gangsta Boo and La Chat – Witch Brew

The Memphis Queens cast rap spells while schoolyard girls sing scary chants on the hook.

12. Gravediggaz – Diary of a Madman

This Wu-Tang Clan adjacent group rap metaphors will have one scared and confused.

13. The Game ft. Tyler the Creator and Lil Wayne – Martians Vs Goblins

The title speaks for itself, but the music video is reminiscent of a Gotham asylum that nobody visits.

14. Travis Scott ft. Kendrick Lamar – Goosebumps

The goosebumps felt are that of the rap bars delivered by Kendrick Lamar.

15. Geto Boys – Mind Playing Tricks on Me

The greatest Hip Hop Halloween song of all time. From the opening Scarface line, “I sit alone in my four-cornered room, staring at candles,” to Bushwick Bill’s Trick or Treat story, the Geto Boys created a classic tune about how reality can be spookier than fiction.
