OKLAHOMA CITY — Chimere Grant is a Millwood Alum and longtime community advocate. A mother of three and committed public servant, Grant has announced her candidacy for Oklahoma House District 97.
Her campaign will focus on practical and measurable solutions to improve everyday life for working families, including safer neighborhoods, well-resourced schools, affordable housing, accessible healthcare, and expanded economic opportunity.
Chimere has partnered with churches, local organizations, and neighborhood leaders to support youth programs, strengthen families, and connect residents to vital services. These experiences shaped her belief that effective leadership must be accessible, compassionate, and accountable — and policy should be driven by the needs the residents share across kitchen tables throughout District 97.
“Working together, we can get it right,” said Grant. “I’m running for the Oklahoma House because our families deserve streets free of gun violence, stronger schools, and high wage jobs that are in our neighborhoods. I will listen, act with transparency, and build practical solutions that lift up everyone in District 97.”
Campaign priorities include:
Safer neighborhoods: Invest in community-based public safety strategies, youth programs, and mental health resources to reduce crime and improve quality of life for all District 97’s residents;
Stronger schools: Increase support and resources for educators, expand after-school and workforce-preparation programs, and strengthen family engagement in school decision-making to improve student outcomes;
Economic opportunity: Promote workforce development, support small businesses, and advocate for fair wages and targeted investments that create sustainable local jobs;
Quality, affordable housing: Reduce barriers to affordable housing and support programs that help families remain housed; and
Accessible healthcare and support for vulnerable populations: Expand access to quality care and services for seniors, veterans, and families in need.
Chimere’s campaign is rooted in community listening and partnership. Over the coming months she will hold speaking and listening tours, as well as neighborhood meetings across District 97 so residents can identify priorities, share solutions, and hold elected leaders accountable. Her approach emphasizes measurable goals and bipartisan collaboration to deliver results.
