Contracts Finalized for Supt. Dr. Jamie Polk and Supt. Dr. Ebony Johnson

OKLAHOMA CITY — Contracts for the superintendents of the state’s two largest school districts have been finalized and extended.

On Monday, the Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) board voted unanimously to extend Superintendent Dr. Jamie C. Polk’s contract through the 2028-29 school year.

“Tonight, the OKCPS Board of Education approved a new contract for Superintendent Dr. Jamie Polk, which includes a $25,000 increase to her base salary for the current fiscal year and extends her agreement through June 30, 2029 – the maximum term allowed by law. We are pleased to have concluded these negotiations,” said OKCPS Board Chair Paula Lewis. “The Board remains fully supportive of Dr. Polk and is deeply grateful for her steadfast leadership and service to our students, staff and community.”

The raise increases Polk’s base salary to $275,000.

“I am honored to continue serving as Superintendent of Oklahoma City Public Schools,” Polk said.  “This contract extension reflects our collective belief that stability, clarity, and collaboration are essential to sustaining the progress our students deserve. I appreciate the trust and partnership of our Board of Education and am grateful to our families, staff, and community members who work alongside us every day.

“OKCPS is moving with purpose, and I remain fully committed to the work ahead,” Polk continued.  “Together, we will continue building the systems, culture and opportunities that ensure every student in Oklahoma City Public Schools is prepared for a bright and successful future. Let’s go to work.”

In November, the Tulsa Public Schools board of education approved a three-year contract extension for Superintendent Dr. Ebony Johnson.  Dr. Johnson’s contract was set to expire June 30, 2026.  The board also voted to boost Johnson’s base salary to $290,000.

Dr. Johnsons is a proud graduate of Tulsa Public Schools and attended Walt Whitman Elementary, Gilcrease Middle School, and McLain High School, graduating with the class of 1994.

Tulsa Public Schools is the largest school district in the State of Oklahoma, serving nearly 34,000 students at 77 schools.

OKCPS is the second largest school district in the state, serving approximately 33,000 students at 64 schools.
