OKLAHOMA CITY — Five years ago, Douglass High School, under the leadership of Principal Kevin Jones, instituted a plan called B.A.G. (Behavior, Attendance, Grades), which recognized students performing well academically.
“One way we incentivize our seniors that have maintained a 4.0 GPA or higher is providing them with a customized letterman’s jacket,” said Jones. The Alumni Association also takes care of their senior fees, including all of their senior announcements (Cap and Gown, Prom Ticket, Yearbook, and free Admittance to all Extracurricular Activities).
“The overall goal for this program is to show our students academics will be equally celebrated,” said Jones, just like athletic achievements are celebrated.
This year, all seniors are either enrolled at Metro Tech or concurrently enrolled at Oklahoma City Community College, said Jones.
