Yes, Oklahoma City public schools are opening today and a spokesman for the district reminded parents and students that the district will continue providing breakfast and lunch to all students.
“The Oklahoma City Public School District is a Community Eligibility Provision district, which is a no-cost meal service option for schools in a low-income area,” a statement said.
“All students receive both breakfast and lunch at no cost without needing to collect household information on applications.
“The district will continue participating in the program to provide snacks and supper meals to sites.
“We know that students learn best when their nutritional needs are met,” said Shonia Hall, the district’s nutritional director.
“We are so grateful to have the ability to ensure that our students have healthy meal options each day. This is extremely impactful in a state where many children go to bed not knowing when their next meal will be.
“Our district is an equal opportunity provider.”
