Rolfe Funeral Home CEO Jimmie D. Boldien, Jr. Passes Away

OKLAHOMA CITY — Mr. Jimmie D. Boldien, Jr., a prominent funeral director, embalmer and the CEO of Rolfe Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, passed away on July 14. He was 69 years old.
“As CEO of Rolfe Funeral Home and the 53rd President of the National Funeral Directors Morticians Association (NFDMA), he dedicated his life to serving families with compassion, dignity, and excellence,” reads a social media posting from OfficialFuneralWorld, accompanied by a photo of Boldien captioned “Man of Excellence, Community Servant, Master Mortician.”
“His leadership, professionalism, and commitment to the funeral profession left a lasting impact on countless families and colleagues throughout Oklahoma City and across the nation,” the statement continues. “Please keep his son, Colin Boldien, along with the entire Boldien family and the Rolfe Funeral Home staff, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
Service arrangements are pending and will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Boldien and Mrs. Joe Anna Sicard, co-owners of Rolfe Funeral Home, were recently honored as Business and Entrepreneurs of the Year at the 2026 Rita Washington Soul Awakening Awards during the 19th Annual OKC Juneteenth Music Arts Festival.
“For 91 years, Rolfe Funeral Home has stood as a pillar of service, dignity, compassion, and Black excellence in Oklahoma City. This recognition is not only a celebration of business success, but also a tribute to generations of commitment, leadership, and faithful service to families throughout our community,” reads a statement from Perry Publishing and Broadcasting Company (PPBC) announcing the award.
Boldien gave an interview as part of the COVID-19 American History Project in October 2023, wherein he discussed his experiences as a funeral director in Oklahoma during the pandemic. In the interview, he said his legal name was Jimmy Bing, Jr., and that he was born Nov. 22, 1956.
At the time of the interview, in 2023, Boldien said he had been in the funeral service profession for 46 years, and had served as CEO of Rolfe Funeral Home for the previous five years.
Rolfe Funeral Home was established in 1935.
In the interview, Boldien shared why he worked in the funeral service profession.
“Let me say I enjoy helping people,” Boldien said. “The joy of the funeral service experience is when you make families satisfied, secure, that at the end of the day they turn around and say thank you for making this experience bearable. That speaks volumes. It’s priceless. You know, you can’t put a price on it. At the end of the day when you walk away from the building, and you ask yourself is there something I’ve done to help a family today, and you look over the course of a day what you’ve done, then it makes it more pleasurable. It makes all 40, I said 46 years of my service worthwhile.
“Something I always wanted to do, but I wanted to be good at what I do. How to do [it], especially, ethically. Ethics has a lot to do with the funeral service business. How you treat people, how you operate your business, counts volumes. People read, they read about you, and they go in a little deeper now that they have computers. They go into your background and see just what kind of person you are. So you try to present yourself with a very positive image. Some people said, ‘You know that man helped my family seven years ago, and he went over 100%. He went over and beyond to make sure that we had the necessary, what we needed, to get through it.’ So that’s why it’s priceless.”
