Two Events Planned By District

Two back-to-school community resource events will be held by the Oklahoma City Public School District.

The first of the events will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, at U. S. Grant High School, 5016 S. Pennsylvania Ave.

The second back-to-school community resource event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Douglass High School, 900 Martin Luther King Ave.

The two events are designed to “provide families with information, resources and direct services they will need to prepare for and have a successful school year,” a statement from the school district said.

“The events will bring together the districts resources, community partners and families, and will include services, such as medical screenings, immunizations, after-school program registration, informational workshops and more.”

Back-to-school supplies will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.

The events are open to all families within the school district.

The district’s enrollment teams and other teams will be available to help answer questions.

“In the Oklahoma City Public School District we have a seat for every child and we want to ensure that each child arrives on Aug. 10 ready to learn,” a spokesman for the district said.

“These two events are critical in our efforts to connect our families with community partners, who will offer services in one place at each event.”

“These events will provide services and resources that families typically need for going back to school,” said Sara Lynn Sadorra, director of strategic planning for the district.

“We want to help support families with getting their students everything they need for their best school year, yet.

“Families will learn about the resources our school district offers and how they can best support their students.”
