Pritzker criticizes ceasefire resolution
Gov. J.B. Pritzker is criticizing the Gaza ceasefire resolution passed by the Chicago City Council. Mayor Brandon Johnson’s “yes” vote Wednesday broke a tie among aldermen, leading to the passage of the resolution that calls for an immediate ceasefire and a release of hostages by Hamas. At an unrelated event, Pritzker said the non-binding resolution probably would have no effect on foreign policy and that he was disappointed with the wording.
Hospital cyber security incident
A network outage at a children’s hospital has impacted phones, email and internet service as hospital officials investigate a “cyber security incident.” The outage has affected business at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital for two days. The outage has also affected elective surgeries and procedures, many of which have been canceled.
Ford County assesses migrant resolution
Another downstate Illinois county board is expected to vote this month on a declaration that they are a non-sanctuary county. Officials in Ford County are proposing the declaration because they said the county doesn’t have the means to care for migrants. The measure has been forwarded to the state’s attorney to examine the wording. Grundy County passed a similar measure in December.
