The 54th Annual GMA Dove Awards showcased and celebrated the achievements of the music industry’s best Christian artists. Among this year’s big winners in the Gospel categories were Gospel Worship Album and Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year: Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year: Jonathan McReynolds, Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year: Maverick City Music, Kirk Franklin, Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year: Pastor Mike Jr. ft. James Fortune and Traditional Gospel Album of the Year: Brian Courtney Wilson.
Jekalyn Carr Celebrates Her 7th #1 Single
Gospel superstar Jekalyn Carr has earned her 7th Billboard Gospel #1 single with “I Believe.” “I Believe” is the lead single from her sixth self-titled album “JEKALYN,” released on Friday, October 20, 2023. “JEKALYN” marks Carr’s first-full release in four years and features collaborations with Tauren Wells, Kierra Sheard Kelly, Papa San, Tim Bowman Jr., Kirk Franklin, Pastor Mike Jr., Mike Teezy, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Blanca, and Elevation Rhythm.
Philly Church Offers Parking to Sports Fans
The Calvary Baptist Church, located just outside Philadelphia in city of Chester, where the poverty rate is among the highest in the metro area, found a creative way to sustain itself. Following the pandemic, like many fellow churches, attendance fell and Calvary found themselves struggling financially. Calvary is widely recognized as the church that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. attended while he was a seminarian at the Crozer Theological Seminary transformed its parking lot to accommodate the nearby Subaru Park, a sports and concert arena with event parking. The church is using volunteers from the congregation to staff the lots, selling spaces for $15 per vehicle.

Pastor John P. Kee and The New Life Community Choir are currently embarking on a multi-city reunion tour celebrating the rich history of their collective musical journey. The New Life Community Choir, led by Pastor John P. Kee, has been around since the late 1980s and has garnered a dedicated fan base. During the reunion tour, you can expect to hear some of their greatest hits, such as “Show Up,” “Stand,” “Jesus Is Real,” and much more. The reunion tour, which began earlier this month, will continue through December and will make upcoming stops in various U.S. states and cities, including Detroit, North Carolina, Atlanta, Oakland, CA, Sandusky, OH, Columbia, SC, and Washington D.C., just to name a few.
Dorothy Norwood Receives a 2023 Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award
Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia hosted the 2023 Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony on October 21, 2023. At this event, veteran Gospel artist Dorothy Norwood received a lifetime achievement medal for her longstanding legacy and contributions to the gospel music industry. Norwood, known as “Gospel’s Greatest Storyteller,” for her penchant for telling stories of personal experiences in her songs while delivering messages of faith, hope, and inspiration. Norwood had been a member of the legendary Caravans since the 1950s.
