Republican Is Running
Ben M. Janloo, a Republican, is running to be elected to the District 97 state representative seat.
He issued a statement “to introduce” himself.
District 97 is represented by State Rep. Jason Lowe (Dem., Oklahoma City), who is seeking reelection.
Mr. Janloo’s statement said he left Iran in 1972 to be an exchange student and ended up living in Oklahoma City.
The statement said he first began the process of learning to speak English.
He attended a language center in New York and “heard great things about the middle of the country.”
“So, I moved to Oklahoma in 1973 and attended Seminole State College and went on to graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree.
He returned to UCO to receive two master’s degrees and is studying there for a doctor of philosophy degree.
He has lived in District 97 for 48 years.
“Not only did he live in District 97,” the statement issued by his campaign said, “he started his businesses here, invested in District 97 and pays taxes in District 97.”
“He has created jobs to fellow residents of the community throughout many years,” the campaign statement pointed out.
“What he has seen from the people of his community has given him drive to continue to bring and build opportunity in District 97 and on a much larger scale,” the campaign statement said.
“He tells everyone that District 97 is the most beautiful part of Oklahoma and has the best people,” the statement continued.
“His goal is to bring prosperity back into our district,” the statement said.
“We have been ignored for growth and improvements for 55 years,” the candidate said.
“As a businessman, Ben could shine a new light into District 97.”
It’s time for change and Janloo is the right man for the job!” the campaign statement said.
Mr. Janloo and his wife have five children and 13 grandchildren.
His wife, Lida Janloo, is a professor at the University of
Oklahoma School of Dentistry.
