Man Arrested in New Year’s Day Deadly Shooting

Oklahoma City police have arrested a suspect in the New Year’s Day shooting death of former Millwood High School quarterback, who was a college student.

A spokesman for the police department said a man has been arrested in the case.

J’Coal Glover was arrested on a complaint of first-degree murder.

J’Coal Glover, 30, was taken into custody on Jan. 7 after a review of security camera footage at the scene of the shooting.

According to the probable cause affidavit, security footage showed Mr. Glover leaving the scene, retrieving an item from a vehicle and returning.

A second suspect, using Mr. Glover as concealment, was then seen firing multiple rounds at the victims. Records indicate Glover did not fire the weapon.

Glover and the second unidentified suspect then fled the scene, according to records.

Glover was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and denied bail, according to the Oklahoma County Jail admissions document.

Just after midnight on New Year’s Day, Oklahoma police were called to a reported shooting in the Paseo District.

Investigators said the incident started as a fight at Sunset Patio Lounge, which led to several people being kicked out of the bar.

“The argument between those involved spilled out into the parking lot just north of the business when the gunfire rang out,” said a spokesman for the police department.

“Five club patrons were hit by rounds, some of which appear to be bystanders.”

Officers arrived on scene to find 23-year-old Anthony Thomas, 25-year-old Lamar Johnson, 26-year-old Jason Caruthers and 20-year-old Evan Richmond injured in the shooting.

The police spokesman said 22-year-old Daniel Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Howard was a sociology major and student athlete at Ft. Hayes University in Kansas.
