(The Center Square) – Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger released the full list of members who will serve on her transition committee, which includes more than 80 Virginians who will help prepare her administration before she takes office in January.
Spanberger said the members are united for one purpose, “putting Virginia first.” She said the committee brings experience from across the commonwealth and will support early planning on lowering costs for families, expanding economic opportunity and improving public safety. She also said the members have “deep ties” to communities in every region.
The transition committee includes current and former local elected officials, business executives, nonprofit leaders, educators, public safety officials and former members of the General Assembly. The list spans multiple professions, industries and localities across the commonwealth.
Spanberger also said in a post on social media that she convened the transition team in Richmond. She said the group is beginning its work early as she prepares to be sworn into office in January.
Some of the members include Erin Ashwell, who previously served as chief deputy attorney general, Carlos Brown of Dominion Energy, former Congresswoman Barbara Comstock, former White House official Melody Gonzales and former Congressman Denver Riggleman. The list also includes mayors, county supervisors and leaders from statewide business and community organizations.
Spanberger said the transition committee will help ensure her administration is ready on day one.
“They will help ensure my administration is ready on day one to begin saving Virginians money, protecting Virginia’s jobs and small businesses, and strengthening the security of our Commonwealth,” she said.
