Authorities arrest Chicago man in CTA murders

Murder charges have been filed in a mass shooting that left four people dead on a Chicago Transit Authority train over the Labor Day weekend. According to the Forest Park Police Department, 30-year-old Rhanni Davis of Chicago is facing four counts of murder. According to authorities, surveillance video revealed the four victims were likely asleep in different parts of the westbound train when the attack occurred.

State museum to host exhibit on sculptor Richard Hunt

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum will celebrate the work of renowned sculptor Richard Hunt with a special exhibition that showcases his art and explores the history that inspired him. “Freedom in Form: Richard Hunt” opens October 25 and runs through April. Hunt produced more public sculptures than any other artist in American history. They can be found in plazas and parks from Champaign and Peoria to Washington and New York. Visitors will be able to see the 1956 sculpture “Hero’s Head,” inspired by Hunt seeing the battered body of Emmett Till, the Chicago teenager who was murdered in Mississippi.

Boomerang Championship comes to Springfield

Illinois will be home to the 2024 U.S. National Boomerang Championship and Expo this weekend. The United States Boomerang Association is holding its three-day competition Sept. 6, 7 and 8 at the University of Illinois soccer complex in Springfield. The event will feature the annual national championship and other competitions. The USBA was formed in 1982, but throwing boomerangs began as an organized sport in the 1960s.
