Ag equipment manufacturer closing

An agricultural equipment manufacturer in central Illinois is closing.

RhinoAg in Gibson City announced it will shut down its facility and move operations to Alabama. As a result, 80 people will lose their jobs.

On Wednesday, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Schools posted on Facebook asking local residents to be mindful of the effects such job losses can have on kids and the community.

Gotion plant nears production start

Battery maker Gotion is nearing the start of production at its new facility in Manteno.

The Chinese company announced plans last September to convert a former Kmart distribution center into an assembly facility that would be operating within a year.

Former President Donald Trump stated on social media that he is opposed to the proposed Gotion plant in Michigan, which is expected to supply parts to the Manteno plant.
