Another former state rep. testifies

Former State Rep. Lou Lang has taken the witness stand at the bribery and racketeering trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and co-defendant Michael McClain.

When prosecutor Amar Bhachu asked Lang about the former speaker, Lang said Madigan was the most powerful member of the Illinois House and the “ultimate decision-maker.” Before the jury entered the courtroom, attorneys discussed potential lines of questioning for former state Rep. Bob Rita, who may testify later on Thursday.

Train operator had alcohol in system

Federal regulators found the operator of a CTA Yellow Line train that crashed nearly a year ago, injuring dozens of riders, had alcohol in his system.

The medical report from the National Transportation Safety Board shows the train operator had a blood alcohol level of .06, three times the legal limit for someone driving a train.

Thirty-eight people were hurt in the Nov. 16 morning crash when the train collided with a snowplow on the tracks.

Dolton mayor issues threats

Self-proclaimed “Super Mayor” Tiffany Henyard is taking her threats against her opponents to a new level by threatening them with arrest.

During a 90 minute Facebook Live broadcast, Henyard didn’t specify what crimes she believed were committed. She accused her opponents of a “power and money grab” while promising to reveal evidence at a later date.
