Customs nabs fake watches at O’Hare
Customs officers at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport confiscated over $6 million in fake designer watches. Officials said a total of 243 watches, with brand names that included Rolex and Omega, were inside the seized shipment, which was destined for Bensenville.
Last month, customs officers in Chicago intercepted 145 shipments of fake watches and another 340 shipments containing counterfeit driver’s licenses that originated from Hong Kong and China.
Domestic violence program expands
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has announced the expansion of the Domestic Violence Co-Location Program into Sangamon and St. Clair counties.
First launched in Winnebago and Lake counties in 2019, the program is a partnership between DCFS, domestic violence agencies and other community partners aimed at building the agency’s capacity to respond to and meet the needs of families experiencing domestic violence who are also involved with the child welfare system.
Three Chicago steakhouses among world’s best
A recent ranking of the best steakhouses in the world includes three Chicago eateries. World’s 101 Best Steaks ranked Asador Bastian in River North as the 13th-best steakhouse in the world and second best in the country.
Also making the list were Swift & Sons and Bavette’s Steakhouse. The top honors went to a steakhouse in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
