Chicago city officials are in Springfield Tuesday. Chicago faces a more than $1 billion budget deficit and Mayor Brandon Johnson is likely to ask for state taxpayers to pay more to bail out the city.

Illinois Republican state Sen. Craig Wilcox said taxpayers should not be left to once again bail out Chicago for years of financial mismanagement.

Pritzker fallout continues

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker continues to defend his comments that Republicans say are dangerous.

Pritzker told New Hampshire Democrats Republicans cannot know a moment of peace. Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie said Pritzker’s rhetoric crosses the line and is reckless.

Pritzker said he has only called for peaceful protests.
