Winter storms expected

Southern Illinois University in Carbondale closed early Tuesday due to the oncoming storm.
Communities along the Ohio River may soon be dealing with flooding as well as water levels continue to rise following a coast-to-coast storm that killed 12 people in Kentucky.
Hit and run suspect brought back
The man accused of killing two women in an Urbana hit-and-run crash last month has been extradited from Texas to Champaign County.
Julio Bol, who faces numerous charges, was located and arrested on a bus bound for Mexico. Police said Bol’s SUV rear-ended a car stopped by a red light Jan. 19.
Bol has admitted to authorities that he falsified paperwork that identified him as a Mexican national and he is actually a citizen of Guatemala.
Government efficiency caucus formed
Illinois Republican state Rep. Brad Halbrook has announced the formation of the Illinois Government Efficiency Caucus.
Halbrook said the goal is to have a bipartisan effort to find ways to reduce the size of government and tackle inflation.
Meanwhile, a Republican-filed bill at the Statehouse would create the Illinois Department of Government Efficiency within the Office of the Auditor General.
