IDOT to close Interstate 255 for road work
The Illinois Department of Transportation will close over 3 miles of Interstate 255 in Metro East for six months starting this weekend. IDOT will be resurfacing the interstate between Illinois Route 157 and Illinois Route 15. According to officials, the six-month closure will prevent a two-year-long project and will better protect construction crews from traffic in the area.
Illinois Department of Corrections on hiring spree
The Illinois Department of Corrections will participate in at least 10 hiring events open to the public in various locations throughout February and March. Along with correctional officers, IDOC is currently seeking nurses, wardens, office associates, social workers, and more to join its team. There will be several hiring events in February around the state, including in Peoria, Joliet, Carlinville, Bloomington and Rockford.
Pritzker tussles with Musk in social media spat
Governor J.B. Pritzker and Elon Musk exchanged jabs on social media Wednesday. The online spat began when Musk retweeted a video of Pritzker at a news conference criticizing the Trump Administration as being dangerous to Illinoisans. Musk added a caption, writing, “Nothing is more dangerous than getting between J.B. Pritzker and the buffet table. Pritzker fired back by posting a picture of himself eating at The Wiener’s Circle, a well-known hot dog spot, with the caption, “I salute (The Wiener’s Circle), not Nazis,” referring to a hand gesture Musk made on stage during Donald Trump’s inauguration.
