Illinois is among 22 states suing the Trump administration aiming to prevent what the plaintiffs say is “unlawful and damaging cuts to federal funding.”
Gov. J.B. Pritzker said the cuts are “catastrophic.”
President Donald Trump said on social media “Billions of Dollars of FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE, has already been found” and losing momentum will “be very detrimental to finding the TRUTH.”
AFP seeks property tax relief
Americans for Prosperity-Illinois is targeting various state legislators for what the group says is their lack of action on delivering meaningful property tax relief while at the same time considering various pension and tax proposals.
The group launched a digital campaign Monday, saying Illinois residents have the highest overall state-local tax burden in the nation, including the second-highest property taxes.
Small business optimism drops
Small business optimism has dropped and the uncertainty index has risen, according to the National Federation of Independent Business Optimism Index.
NFIB Illinois State Director Noah Finley said small business owners remain on edge about the expiration of the federal small business tax dedication and lingering inflation and workforce pressures.
