Infowars sold to Chicago-based The Onion

The satirical news publication The Onion, which is based in Chicago, won the bidding for Alex Jones’ Infowars at a bankruptcy auction.

The Onion was backed by families of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims to whom Jones owes more than $1 billion in defamation judgments for calling the massacre a hoax.

The company acquired the conspiracy theory platform’s website, social media accounts, studio in Texas and trademarks for an undisclosed sales price. Jones has vowed to challenge the sale in court.

IDPH job fair

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking to fill a number of positions at its upcoming job fair in Springfield.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Illinois Department of Agriculture Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. IDPH has a variety of openings, a number of which do not require prior public health experience.

Among the positions IDPH is currently looking to fill are environmental health specialist, health facilities surveillance nurse, office administrator, and office associate.

Hot Tub Boats

A popular attraction is returning to Chicago this winter.

Hot Tub Boats, which are self-contained and can seat up to six people, are returning to the Chicago River. A 90-minute hot tub cruise costs $350 on weekdays, and $425 on weekends.

The Hot Tub Boat rides sold out last year.
