Mayor Johnson approval rating low
Just under 80% of respondents in a new poll said they disapprove of the job that Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is doing. The overwhelming disapproval comes from a survey of nearly 700 likely Chicago voters in a poll conducted last week by M3 Strategies.
The poll also asked residents what they thought was the biggest issue facing Chicago now, and about two-thirds of respondents said the top issue facing the city was crime.
Former Gov. Edgar reveals cancer diagnosis
Former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar on Monday revealed he’s been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Edgar served as the 38th governor of Illinois, from 1991 to 1999. He previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives and as Secretary of State. He was succeeded by Gov. George Ryan in the governor’s office.
Edgar has remained active in the political arena since leaving office and has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.
IDNR seeks campground hosts
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is seeking campground hosts for the 2025 camping season for state parks, recreation areas, and historic sites across Illinois.
Hosts are responsible for checking on arrivals and departures, writing camping permits, acquainting campers with park facilities and regulations, answering questions about local and statewide attractions, and helping visitors plan outings.
Several positions are available, including in Clinton, LaSalle and Madison counties.
