Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has signed a $40 million Executive Order for affordable housing apartments called Grace Manor. The order aims to address bottlenecks within the housing system.
State set to open cover crops program on Friday
The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) Fall Covers for Spring Savings Program opens for applications on Friday. The discount program was designed to promote additional acres of cover crops that are not covered by other state or federal incentives.
Ford works to address jobless rate among Black youth
State Rep. LaShawn Ford is working to address a lack of jobs for Black teens after the jobless rate for Black youth in Chicago ages 20-24 was 57% in 2021, up from 44% in 2019, according to the study by UIC’s Great Cities Institute. For Black women in that age group, unemployment nearly doubled.
