Illinois quick hits: Median household income down from 2021

Median household income down from 2021

Illinois’ median household income for 2023 was $115,000, according to data released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis Thursday. That ranks 19th among all states.

Illinois’ ranking is up two spots from 2013 where $79,000 was the median income, but down from ranking 15th in 2021 with the median income of $116,000.

AFP Illinois files ethics complaints

Americans For Prosperity-Illinois are calling on local and state officials to investigate ethics complaints against a public library in Sangamon County.

The group filed complaints alleging Rochester Public Library officials engaged in prohibited political activities using taxpayer-funded resources to promote a “Vote Yes” campaign for a tax referendum.

AFP Illinois Deputy State Director Brian Costin said weak oversight and loopholes are being used to avoid consequences.

Cook County among most digitized

Cook County government is heralding being recognized as one of the nation’s most digitally advanced county governments.

The Center for Digital Government and Government Technology magazine placed Cook County in eighth place in the over-one-million population category for its 2025 Digital Counties Survey.

It’s the sixth year Cook County has landed in the top ten.
