Officer’s family doesn’t want mayor to attend funeral
The head of Chicago’s police union said the family of Chicago Police Officer Enrique Martinez, who was shot to death last week, does not want Mayor Brandon Johnson at his funeral.
John Catanzara, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7, said he doesn’t want to see a repeat of what happened with the funeral of Officer Luis Huesca earlier this year. The family didn’t want Johnson to appear at the funeral, and the mayor waited until the night before to honor their wishes.
Catanzara said the family also does not want Gov. J.B. Pritzker to attend.
Trampoline park violations
The Illinois Department of Labor and Elevate Trampoline Park have reached a settlement agreement to address safety concerns and make improvements across Elevate’s Illinois locations in Milan, East Peoria and Peoria.
Officials said the Elevate Trampoline Park in Milan violated a stop order imposed in March 2024, following an inspection by the state’s Amusement Rides and Attraction Safety Division. As part of the agreement, Elevate Trampoline Park will be introducing upgraded safety measures and new attractions that cater to visitors of all ages.
