Illinois quick hits: Pritzker hasn’t decided if he will testify before Congress; Public health officials update school vaccination dashboard

Pritzker hasn’t decided if he will testify before Congress

Gov. J.B. Pritzker says he has not decided if he will accept an invitation to testify before Congress about Illinois’ sanctuary policies for noncitizen migrants. Pritzker was called to testify in May along with the governors of New York and Minnesota. Pritzker said he did not see why anyone would get subpoenaed when they haven’t violated any laws. He spoke Tuesday at a news conference to announce $19 million in state taxpayer-funding to expand the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program.

Public health officials update school vaccination dashboard

The Illinois Department of Public Health has released its updated Illinois School Vaccination Coverage Dashboard. The updated dashboard includes data from the current 2024-25 school year. Even with a recent nationwide surge in measles cases, the overall measles vaccination rate for school children remains above 95% in Illinois this school year.

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, along with 20 other attorneys general, are warning the Trump administration against stopping new rules for the Affordable Care Act. Last year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services published a Final Rule that would increase patient access to state and federal exchanges under the ACA. The Trump administration is making an attempt to undo the implementation of that rule.
