Illinois quick hits: Pritzker launches group, Illinoisans worst tippers

Pritzker launches national group

Gov. J.B. Pritzker has created an organization aimed at protecting and expanding abortion rights in other states.

The nonprofit “Think Big America” has already funded support for constitutional amendments favoring abortion access in Ohio, Nevada and Arizona. Pritzker has said he is focused on serving as Illinois’ governor, but the organization will likely fuel speculation that he has presidential ambitions.

Tracking car jackers

The Illinois State Police continues to target vehicle theft, hijackings, and related violent crimes using a $10 million Illinois Vehicle Hijacking and Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention grant from the Illinois Secretary of State.

ISP reports nearly 300 stolen or hijacked vehicles were recovered from July through September this year. Twenty-seven people were arrested and nine firearms were seized in the process.

Illinoisans worst tippers

A new study shows Illinoisans are the worst tippers in the country. According to USA TODAY, Illinoisans tipped on average just over 14%. The national average for tippers is close to 18%.

The study, conducted during September, found that California residents tipped the most, averaging 22.6%. Millennials were found to be the best tippers in the country, while people born before 1945 were the worst.
