Reaction to ruling against Mexico’s lawsuit against gun industry
The U.S. Supreme Court threw out the Mexican government’s lawsuit against U.S. gun manufacturers accusing them of aiding and abetting gun violence.
Illinois U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin said while it’s a temporary win for gun manufacturers, his fight for common sense gun safety reform continues.
The Illinois State Rifle Association praised the ruling, saying the Supreme Court also recognized that AR-15s that Illinois banned are both widely legal and bought by many ordinary consumers.
Outdoors hall of fame nominations
The Illinois Conservation Foundation is now accepting nominations for the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame class of 2025.
Each year, the foundation honors individuals who have made contributions to conservation and outdoor recreation across the state. Since 2002, inductees have included mentors who have introduced thousands to hunting, fishing and wildlife stewardship.
The deadline for nominations is July 15.
Woman thought she was paying celebrity
An Evanston woman who believed she was communicating online with an A-list Hollywood actor for months was scammed out of more than $60,000.
According to the Evanston Police Department, the victim said she sent approximately $62,000 in gift cards to someone posing as Kevin Costner on the social media website Telegram. The victim told police she believed the payments were an investment.
