Resolutions calls for Dolton mayor investigation
Trustees with the village of Dolton have approved a resolution calling for an investigation into Mayor Tiffany Henyard.
The mayor and other elected leaders are facing mounting criticism over questionable spending and unpaid bills. Trustee Jason House said the board has evidence Henyard misused village funds, credit cards and refused to pay vendor invoices.
Henyard was not present at the meeting.
Native American tribe wants land back
A northern Illinois Native American group says it wants its land back.
The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation says the federal government seized its land near DeKalb in violation to treaties agreed to about 200 years ago. Part of the land is located within Shabbona State Park.
State Rep. Mark Walker has filed legislation giving the state of Illinois the opportunity to transfer ownership of the park back to the Potawatomi Nation.
Baby otters born in Springfield
Animal care staff at the Henson Robinson Zoo in Springfield got a surprise Thursday. While making their daily animal checks, staff discovered three baby otter pups.
The three pups were found next to their father, Bobby, and mother, Noodle. The North American river otters can be found throughout the United States and Canada in both warm and cold climates.
