Illinois quick hits: Rivian announcing new product; Yelp’s top places to eat

Rivian announcing new product

Rivian Automotive is planning to host a product launch in March, fueling speculation that the company will soon unveil a smaller and less expensive electric vehicle.

Auto analysts said the company will likely unveil a lower-priced sport utility vehicle at a price ranging from $40,000 to $60,000. The starting price for Rivian’s first-generation R1S SUV, which is made in Normal, is $78,000.

Yelp’s top places to eat

Two Illinois restaurants have made Yelp’s “Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.” The ranking highlights the restaurants that come highly recommended by Yelp’s online community.

The New Village Gastro Pub in Northbrook is ranked 74th in the country, and at No. 76 is Habibi Mediterranean Grill in Evanston.

The top spot went to Tumerico, a vegetarian Mexican eatery in Tucson, Arizona.

Carbon monoxide awareness

As Illinoisans turn up their thermostats to stay warm for the rest of this winter, the risk of a home heating fire or carbon monoxide incident increases.

This is why the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal is encouraging residents to have their furnaces checked, change furnace filters, and make sure carbon monoxide and smoke alarms are functioning properly.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, heating equipment is one of the leading causes of home fire deaths.
