School bus crashes into truck

Four students and an adult were injured in a school bus versus truck crash in southern Illinois. Illinois State Police said the mishap occurred Thursday afternoon in Du Quoin.

Illinois State Police said a truck with a flatbed trailer was stopped on US-51 southbound and waiting to turn east when the bus slammed into the trailer. A St. Bruno Catholic School representative in Pinckneyville said it was their bus involved in the crash.

Measure filed to regulate funeral homes

In the wake of a Carlinville funeral home allegedly mishandling dozens of human remains, an Illinois lawmaker has introduced legislation that would further regulate the funeral home industry.

State Sen. Doris Turner’s bill would create new protocols to protect families who have lost family members. The measure would establish an identification tagging system for all human remains and tracks them from death to burial or return to family.

Best Thanksgiving parade

A new ranking says one of the best Thanksgiving parades in the country is in Chicago.

According to the website Time Out, the Thanksgiving Day Parade in the Windy City is the second best in the U.S. behind only New York City’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Giant helium balloons will return to the Chicago parade after a pandemic pause.

The 89th version of the parade will return to Chicago Nov. 23 beginning at 8 a.m.
