A security guard charged in the Stone Park nightclub shooting that claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman was released pending trial following a court hearing Tuesday.

Kevin Henley, 34, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon. Henley previously pleaded guilty to weapons charges and was not legally allowed to possess a firearm.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker called for the ban in his State of the State address in February. The measure would require all school boards to adopt policies prohibiting the use of wireless communication devices during instructional time.

March Madness warning

With March Madness upon us, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is warning residents about the risks around sports betting.

Raoul is advising fans who are filing out their NCAA basketball brackets to be aware of unlicensed operators. Raoul said that certain betting apps and websites are allowed in Illinois, but operators must be licensed with the Illinois Gaming Board and remain in compliance with state regulators.
