A Springfield woman has been sentenced to prison for stalking and threatening case workers from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. 25-year-old Lerin Hughes has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for cyberstalking. In 2022, Hughes made multiple threatening posts on Facebook directed towards one employee investigating child abuse. She also sent threatening texts and emails to a contractor working for the agency.

Objections to petitions can be filed through Dec. 11. The final primary ballot will be certified on Jan. 11 during the Illinois State Board of Elections meeting.
