IDOT gets $305 million for Interstate 290 improvements

The Illinois Department of Transportation has been awarded more than $305 million in federal tax funds to invest in Interstate 290. Funding will also be used for Chicago’s 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project. The funding was made possible by the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act’s National Infrastructure Project Assistance program and is being awarded via competitive grants.

DuPage High School gets money for suicide prevention services

A second year of federal tax funds are set for the DuPage High School District 88 to make it easier for students around the state to get access to suicide prevention services. To date, DuPage has received nearly $440,000 for the grant. Funding has now been broadened to launch the portal which students around the state can use to make contact with a “care navigator.” Students can access the service by texting “HOME” to 741741.

State to inspect haunted houses for safety

It’s haunted house season and the Illinois Department of Labor and Illinois State Fire Marshal are working across the state to inspect facilities for fire safety. All haunted house operations are required to be inspected by the state before operating. Non-profit religious, education or charitable organizations can apply for an exemption.
