Teen charged in East St. Louis murder
A 17-year-old male has been arrested on a charge of first degree murder in East St. Louis.
Illinois State Police announced its special agents were requested by local police to assist with a homicide investigation.
Cicero Mapel was shot multiple times while standing at a bus stop and was later pronounced dead. The unnamed suspect is being held at the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center.
Illinois Policy launches Chicago Policy Center
A new policy center is being launched with a focus on Chicago. The Illinois Policy Institute announced the launch of the Chicago Policy Center. The aim of the new center is to “bring more responsible government principles and healthy civic engagement to Chicago’s political structure and culture,” the group said.
In its first report, the Chicago Policy Center found the average voter turnout in Chicago municipal elections during the past decade is 40% lower than the average general election.
New partnership focuses on ag industry
Archer Daniels Midland and Mitsubishi are joining together to explore areas of future collaboration across the agricultural industry.
Thursday’s announcement said the two companies will work to explore their strengths together to address global challenges for farming.
