Woman asks for meth back after arrest
A southern Illinois woman facing drug charges had the audacity to ask police for her drugs back.
The Metropolis Police Department said officers were called to a home for a suspected trespasser. Amber Gilbert was arrested on a criminal trespass to residence charge. Police said they found methamphetamine in her possession. Gilbert was then released on a notice to appear in court.
Police report when Gilbert was leaving the police department, she asked for her meth back, which they declined.
Digital IDs for Apple Wallet coming soon
The Illinois Secretary of State’s office said it is working to bring digital IDs in Apple Wallet to Illinois residents in the future with the goal of launching by the end of the year.
Secretary Alexi Giannoulias said this capability will enable residents to securely add and present their driver’s licenses and state IDs in person and in apps using their iPhone or Apple Watch. The office said it is working to enable similar digital IDs for other digital wallets like Google and Android.
Radon testing encouraged
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is encouraging testing during Radon Action Month. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S.
Radon test kits can be purchased by calling the Illinois Radon Hotline or at most hardware and department stores. It is recommended to conduct one short-term test and one long-term test to ensure consistent readings.
