Indiana participating in new online database for addiction services

(The Center Square) – Indiana families looking for information on addiction treatment programs now have a new, free resource available to them.

On Friday, Gov. Eric Holcomb announced the start of Shatterproof Treatment Atlas. Shatterproof, a national nonprofit seeking to eliminate addictions, partners with 13 states to help residents find the services through the atlas.

Funding for the Shatterproof initiative is covered through the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Mental Health. While information is available online at, state officials are also making several stakeholders aware of the resource. That includes 9-8-8 and 2-1-1 call centers, public defenders, parole and probation officers, crisis response teams and law enforcement agencies.

“Hoosiers with substance use disorder deserve timely access to quality care as soon as they’re ready to accept help,” Holcomb said in a statement. “Treatment Atlas puts recovery within immediate reach, giving Hoosiers and their loved ones a trusted resource to find evidence-based, high-quality treatment that meets their unique needs, anywhere in the state.”

When accessed, the atlas includes information on more than 600 state-certified treatment facilities. Individuals can filter the database to find services that may be best for them or a loved one. They can also complete a confidential questionnaire to better identify the type of services they need to battle their addiction.

“Prior to Treatment Atlas, there was no easy way for Hoosiers to access this level of transparency when seeking SUD treatment,” said Douglas Huntsinger, Indiana’s executive director for drug prevention, treatment and enforcement. “We can have all the parts and pieces of an expansive recovery infrastructure, but people need to know how to access them. Indiana is proud to bring this national solution to Hoosiers.”

Other states participating include California, Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
